Merry Christmas from The Congo Tree team!11th December 2013
Arsène is a Leader Mentor with The Congo Tree. He is also the Co-founder and Director of Rudi International.
Rudi International runs a number of projects in and around Goma, DRC (where The Congo Tree is also based). One of their main aims is to ensure underprivileged kids are going to school in remote regions and they are currently working with kids from families affected by war who have no regular income to pay school fees.
In 2012, Rudi International’s Christmas Project fed more than 300 children and had a day full of fun. This year they hope to celebrate even bigger and better with another community meal on Christmas Day, workshops and even more fun!
Arsène mentors one of our Young Leaders, Daniel. Daniel is brilliant at art. In fact, Daniel is so good at art that Arsène has encouraged him to run an art workshop at their Christmas Project day this year, putting into practice some of the leadership skills Daniel learnt with The Congo Tree training programme. Daniel has never done something like this before but is very excited to be getting involved!
This is just one example of the projects that The Congo Tree is linked to this Christmas, through our Leader Mentors and Young Leaders. It’s great to hear that the training and mentoring we run has helped build young people’s confidence in skills and leadership that are now being put into practice!
You can find out more about Rudi International and their Christmas Project on Arsène’s blog (in French and English) at: https://rudiinternational.wordpress.com
Wishing all of you a wonderful Christmas and very happy New Year!
